The addition of a baby to a family is supposed to be one of life's happiest events - but for some, the road can be a little rocky. Discovery Health's all-new BABY WEEK kicks off on Monday, March 1 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) showcasing the joys - and the struggles - that arrive with a new baby.

Follow the first-hand accounts of parents facing the challenges that accompany their little bundles of joy from the difficult topic of postpartum depression, to unorthodox parenting styles, to miracle pregnancies.

    Married to her high school sweetheart, Claudia and her husband and 4-month old baby were out Christmas shopping, when their car was hit by an 18 wheeler. Their son was killed instantly, her husband sustained 3rd degree burns, and Claudia was paralyzed from the armpits down. The accident, Claudia says, has brought her and her husband closer together. Even though it was excruciating getting over the loss of their son, throughout the ordeal Claudia knew she would have more children. Then, in the winter of '09, Claudia found out she was pregnant. The biggest shock came during the first ultrasound, when she found out they were having twins!

    Now, Claudia and her husband are preparing for the birth of their 2 new sons and dealing with the enormous challenge that Claudia's disability presents. Join us on this incredible journey as we follow Claudia as she prepares to welcome two new additions to her family.

We'll find out how some women and their spouses faced one of the toughest challenges of their lives and found a way to triumph over the darkness.

    In this special, we'll explore what some might consider 'extreme' methods of parenting. From extended breastfeeding to potty training a newborn baby or even choosing to raise a child as gender neutral - these parents (and many like them) are choosing to march to the beat of different drum when it comes to how they raise their children. We'll ask why and how they came to these parenting decisions and hear from experts about the pros and cons of their choices.
