CALCULATE YOUR BMI
Stepping on a scale is not a clear indicator of healthy weight because it does not distinguish between pounds that come from body fat and those that come from lean muscle. Carrying too much fat puts a person at risk for many serious medical conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and even certain forms of cancer.
The Body Mass Index (BMI) can help assess if you are at a healthy weight by estimating your amount of body fat based on height and weight (for adults ages 18 and up). A high number can indicate a greater health risk. BMI does have its limitations. If you've been hitting the gym regularly and have converted fat to muscle your result may be higher than expected. However, for the more sedentary, the BMI tool is a great way to assess overall health risks.
