In this one-hour special, Sam the Cooking Guy visits Hong Kong! True to his “anyone can do this” cooking style, this self-professed “regular guy” will help guide you through this decidedly food-centric city.
Sam enlists the help of a handful of locals to help him understand the food and culture of Hong Kong. Whether it’s local resident Jeannie walking him through the “wet” markets and street vendor stalls, or Peter, a local businessman, showing off the amazing variety available from some of the thousands of small restaurants -- the emphasis is always on fresh. They say the Chinese live on average four years longer than Westerners; could it have something to do with all this freshness?
But it’s still a cooking show, so Sam makes a stop at Victoria Peak (the highest spot on the island) to cook his favorite fried rice. He also meets Mrs. Wong, a friend’s mother, and shops for chicken with her. They then head back to her tiny apartment, where she cooks a traditional meal.
Tune in Thursday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT for a delicious look at Hong Kong, and some of the people who live there, through the eyes of Sam.
