Fit to Live Book Cover

Dr. Peeke offers these "bottom line results" for those who choose to be Fit to Live.

  • You'll save your life, and potentially other people's as well, if faced with a life-threatening accident or event requiring reserves of physical strength and stamina.

  • You'll reduce an overweight or obese waistline 2 to 3 inches per month until you reach less than 35 inches for women and less than 40 inches for men.

  • You'll cut up to 1 to 3 pounds of excess Body Fat (women) or up to 3 to 4 pounds of Body Fat (men) per week until you've reached your Body-Fat Percentage Goal and will keep it off.

  • You'll cut your risk of dying young by 25 percent and live, on average, 8 to 9 years longer.

  • If your blood sugar is high, you'll cut your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by more than 50 percent. If you have a family history and are disease-free so far, you can cut your risk of developing it by more than 40 percent.

  • You'll reduce your risk of heart attack by 65 to 90 percent and also reduce your risk of strokes; colon, prostate, pancreatic, and breast cancers; osteoporosis; and impotence.

  • You'll build 3 pounds of muscle in 12 weeks, increase your metabolism by 7 percent, improve your ability to use glucose fuel in your blood by 25 percent, and increase bone mass by 1 to 3 percent.

  • If you have arthritis, you'll reduce joint swelling and pain. If you don't, it can help prevent it from happening.

  • If you're a menopausal woman, you will relieve hot flashes and headaches by 50 percent.

  • You'll save $2,200 a year on medical bills if you're over 50.

  • If you're moderately depressed, you'll relieve your symptoms by 50 percent (which is equivalent to taking antidepressants) and get increased feelings of happiness, well-being, self-esteem, and confidence.

  • You'll sleep better while preventing and potentially reversing sleep apnea.

  • You'll reduce the risk of Alzheimer's by up to 60 percent and improve overall brain function, including memory and attention.

  • You'll likely delay by 12 years the onset of disabilities associated with aging.
