I am married and have a son. I originally met Dr. Alane Park as a first-year medical student. We then both did our residencies at Los Angeles County University of Southern California Women and Children's Hospital. It was there that we met Dr. Allison Hill. The three of us have been involved in each other's lives as friends and colleagues for over 11 years. Dr. Hill and Dr. Park initially joined a practice at Good Samaritan Hospital with two other seasoned obstetricians. I took a job also at Good Samaritan, working for USC Perinatology. After the birth of my son I was offered a job to join the group with Dr. Hill and Dr. Park. I felt that this would be a better fit for me as both Allison and Alane were in the same phase in their lives as I was, trying to juggle an infant and a busy OB/GYN practice.
We have seen each other get married, have children, go through divorce, and rebuild a life after divorce. We have supported each other through our struggles with childrearing and marriage, and carried the weight of a busy practice while each of us has been on maternity leave. We share some of our most personal and emotional struggles as well as professional challenges. It feels like such a great fit because we understand each other's needs and ultimately we are trying our best to be good mothers and good physicians.
Like Allison and Alane, I have interests outside of medicine and childrearing, and we also want our practice to allow us to pursue these interests. I have used exercise since I was 18 years old to help manage my stress and weight. I am a religious runner, and before the birth of my son, I did my first marathon and mini-triathlon. I enjoy walking, hiking, weight lifting, spinning and yoga. I have found it harder to fit rigorous training into my schedule since I had my son but I still manage to work out four to five times a week. I also like to use my hands outside of the operating room, so I love to garden and to cook.
