In a nutshell, I am a single mom with two kids -- Luke and Kate. I have a live-in nanny who helps me when I have to go to work in the middle of the night. I keep myself pretty busy with work, but also love to do yoga three or four times a week. I play tennis and am learning how to surf, which I love. I figure, at my age, it is about time.
My real passion, though, is my volunteer work. I am working with an organization called U.S. Doctors for Africa. So far, I have been involved mostly on the fundraising and organizations end of it. For example, I made a video with some financial supporters from Hollywood, which was shown at a fundraiser at the World Bank. The goal of the organization is to coordinate available funds with the countries that need help, which is a lot more complicated than it should be.
I have loved working at Good Samaritan Hospital, especially with Yvonne and Alane. It is such a privilege to work with doctors you respect. We have been through so many crazy times together, especially during our residency at the county hospital. We have developed a great relationship so that each of us gets the time with our families that we need.
