  • Ginger is a great natural remedy for both nausea and heartburn. Try a little piece of candied ginger, or some decaffeinated ginger tea. And try not to eat after 8p.m. to avoid bedtime heartburn.
  • Forgetfulness is extremely common during pregnancy. It has been attributed to brain shrinkage, hormonal changes, or simply the natural introspection of an expecting mother. Whatever the cause, there is no need to panic. You'll soon be back in action, and in the meantime, carry a little notepad with you and jot down names and appointments. The best thing is, they'll forgive you ... you're pregnant!
  • Now that you're pregnant, you should continue to exercise. Never has it been more important to stay in shape. While you'll want to avoid sports with potential risk of impact like rollerblading, exercises like walking or swimming are ideal. To keep limber for labor, try a prenatal yoga class. Discuss your exercise plans with your doctor or midwife to make sure they are right for you.
  • Breastfeeding is a healthy natural option for feeding your baby, and if you are pumping there are important guidelines to follow on how long you can store your breast milk. At room temperature, you want to keep the milk for no more than 10 hours. In the refrigerator you can safely keep milk for one week, and for up to a couple of weeks to a month in a freezer, depending on the temperature. Once a bottle of milk has been partially drunk, do not reuse as bacteria may enter it.
