What is the future of prosthetics?
Think Robocop. The prosthetics in the future are going to have power. People are going to walk up a flight of stairs; they are not going to carry that leg with them. It is going to be right there with them. It is going to push them up the stairs. And it is coming soon. So I think everything is going to become more integrated, more computerized. It is going to be great! My job changes regularly because it is getting better and better.

How would you best describe your business?
I think we are a human body shop — and I am proud of that. Other people say, "Oh, we are a lab, we are a shop." "Human body shop" is great with me. I am comfortable with that. We are rebuilding people. You know, maybe they came in the door and something wasn't right. And just like you drop off your car at the shop to have something fixed, when you pick it up, it'd better be right. When they walk out of here, it'd better be right.

Can you share a story?
There is a woman who first lost one leg, then she lost the other leg, and later she had a kidney and pancreas transplant. This woman has her own business. She has about 100 employees, and she never stops. She pushes the limit until something breaks down. She is in the hospital right now because that is how she lives. But she doesn't give up.

I just love someone who won't quit. She has got everything going against her and she doesn't care. She is going to push the limit. I think that is great. That is what the human spirit is all about.

It has been a long relationship. She came to me, I don't know, about six or seven years ago, and at that point, she still had her kidney and pancreas. But it is always a challenge to fit her. What I did for her, I just wouldn't give up on her. So there has been a lot of back and forth. There have been times when she would be in here three days in a week. Three days in a row, and she would get frustrated. And sometimes I would get frustrated. But we had this mutual understanding that we would not give up on one another and we would both keep working.
