Questions to Ask Your Infertility Specialist

Review the following 'Questions To Ask' about infertility so you're prepared to discuss this important health issue with your health care professional.

1. How do I know if I should be evaluated for infertility?

2. What kinds of tests will you perform?

3. What's causing my infertility? Should my partner be evaluated as well? Does my partner have infertility?

4. How long should we try to get pregnant before seeing a specialist?

5. How often should we have intercourse?

6. At what time of the month am I most fertile?

7. How can I tell when I'm ovulating?

8. What kinds of things can I change in my life to improve my chances of getting pregnant?

9. How much will these tests and treatments cost?

10. What is the likelihood that the treatment you're recommending will result in pregnancy?

11. Should we try again if the treatment fails? What other treatments should we consider?

12. I need to talk to someone about my feelings and my partner's feelings about infertility. Is there a support group and/or a counselor you can refer us to?
