First Written Record of a Headache
One of the earliest written references to headache dates back to a Mesopotamian poem from 4000 to 3000 BCE:
Headache roameth over the desert, blowing like the wind,
Flashing like lightning, it is loosed above and below;
It cutteth off like a reed him who feareth not his god…
This man it hath struck and
Like one with heart disease he staggereth,
Like one bereft of reason he is broken…
