Traditional Chinese Medicine for Headaches
small text

Dr. John Chen, practicer of traditional Chinese medicine and lecturer at USC on the use of Chinese herbs as an alternative treatment for headaches:

What kinds of things work with headaches?

Headache is one of the best conditions for seeking Chinese medicine, using both acupuncture and/or herbal medicine. Acupuncture has a miraculous effect for relieving pain. Acupuncture works in this case by stimulating the body to produce something called endorphine, a natural morphine. It works very well to release pain, and at the same time, it's helping our body to heal itself. Therefore, there is very little side effect or adverse reactions. In fact the only side effect is probably the feel of the needles.
